To anyone out there feeling suicidal.

Hey, hello
I hope you realize how beautiful life can get
I was there
More than  once

And each time I held that gun
To this side of my head
I heard the kid I used to be
Screaming for help.

A soft cry
An innocent voice
A younger me
Wondering why I was so bitter.

I've walked that road and
I know this sign post
Where your mistakes are written in bold red
And your life is the only sacrifice
That can appease the demons craving for a drop of your blood.

I just want to let you know that
You've been through worse before
You've fought demons
And you won
So now they are trying to convince you that you are the last demon you have to slay.

Close your eyes and count
The second chances you will get when you lie there, lifeless, any?

See,
This whole world is messed up
And you don't have to give away your life to fix things that
Are far beyond you.

One day,
You will look at the bruises on your wrist and remember
How many times you dragged yourself into a fire that wasn't lit for you.

Maybe,
You've walked the better part of hell
And with the last step left to take you home,
Here you are
Giving in
Giving up
A battle you are about to win.

BRIDGING THE AGE GAP THROUGH CONSERVATION

A photo showing members of Kwale Pen People, Kwale Arts, SHIFOGA and Wazee wa Kaya preparing the field for tree planting.  DEMYSTIFYING THE TERM KAYA.  (Episode 1 of the story telling sessions)  Adigo Similani! We’re approaching Kaya Nimwache in the  Ziani ((Ziwani) area of  Matuga sub-county and our stupid conversations cut short by the field in front of us, popularly known as Bingo. A lot of local soccer matches happen here I’m told, this is my first time and I honestly feel attacked because whoever is leading the way wasn’t born neither did he spend the first 19 years of his life around this area. Anyway, we walk our way through past the “soccer field” into a swampy field to the other side (I really wish I was good at directions) where the rest of the participants in this program are. Talking about the program, BRIDGING THE GAP, is a program with the aim of narrowing the gap between the youth and the elderly in the society. The first phase being tree planting...

TO THE SOUL

Istock.com Dear soul… Today, I want to talk to you. It really pains me, seeing how much you’re suffering, in distress, pain, agony, depression over matters that are out of your control. You have failed me so many times when you almost gave up and thought as though no one sees your sufferings. Don’t you believe that all that we go through is by the decree of our creator? I know you do know that everything that happens was long planned by the master of planners. Then why waste plenty of your precious time worrying over Allah’s decree. He knows you much more better than you do to your own self. How about live a worry-free and hope-full life acknowledging that everything is in control? If life was only made of good days, we would never learn to appreciate it, we would never know how it feels to be really Joyous. It’s the bad days that make us stronger, they make us more humble and adds up to our gratitude, because life, is made of two days; one is for you, and one against you. Learn ...
